Poetic Justice

Last month we shared information on an Internet poetry site that seems to have only one goal ... to make money from the hopes and dreams of writers. My experience with the people who run that site made me feel they cared little about my talent and the quality of my work. They were willing to take my money however ... the more the better.

As a follow up, it gives me great pleasure to relate another tale about writers of poetry. In fact, this story is our story ... it is a live example of all we hoped could happen when we established the Xisti community.

Xisti Incorporated proudly announces the publication of Seasons of the Heart, a poetry book featuring the work of 15 authors. What makes this book so special is how these women met and how they relate to each other. Between 1996 and 2000, these women were all members of an online community.

They were from different age groups, backgrounds and nationalities; but they shared a love for poetry, perhaps even a compulsion to write it. The community that spawned their collaboration is long gone, but their friendship remains. They have formed a new community and continue to support and encourage each other. Through their work they share the joys and tribulations of their lives.

When the idea of publishing a book was born, over 300 poems were reviewed to find the very best work of the authors. Seasons of the Heart contains poetry that covers the spectrum of all the emotions we experience, that pays tribute to special people and that is sometimes written just for fun. We hope it will be well received. A second volume is almost ready for publication.

Seasons of the Heart may be ordered online at Xisti.com. For more information on how to obtain copies, please contact xystus@xisti.com.

None of us will get rich through the publication of this book, but none of us were exploited to have it published either. And we have experienced tremendous personal growth through our collaboration. Some of us have seen real changes in our lives. We've learned discipline as writers. One of us now writes a regular column for her local newspaper. This is what a site dedicated to promoting the work of writers should do.
